Chapter 5

A month passed and Darien grew and began to hold his head up on his own and sleep through the night. He was also able to pull himself up using Gaara's hair. The Chunin exams were hard, but I managed to pass. Darien cried the whole time I was gone, but he cheered up the second he saw me. Gaara and I hugged for it had been three days since I'd seen either of them. I held Darien for four hours before finally handing him over to Gaara.

"A meeting has been arranged for tomorrow. We are to appear in the ballroom in the morning. You two are to enter after I call you so listen carefully. Kankuro and Temari will be in the hallway to protect you." Gaara said at dinner.

      "Alright." I said.

We finished dinner and then we fed Darien his dinner. We stayed up for a few hours playing before sleep overtook Darien and threatened to overtake me. Then we all crawled into bed. Darien fell asleep in his crib and Gaara and I snuggled on our bed. We kissed and then I fell asleep on his chest.

The next morning was hard. Gaara and I were rushing around the apartment to get everything together. Darien watched us from his high chair and laughed occasionally when one of would slip and the other would catch the one who slipped. We were a few minutes late to the meeting and Gaara kissed me before going into the ballroom.

Darien played with Kankuro and Temari while we waited. He was successfully able to pull Kankuro's mask off when he had turned around. Temari, Darien, and I laughed at Kankuro's expression when he turned around. Darien was very well behaved and gave Kankuro his mask back when I asked him to. And then we were called into the ballroom.

I walked into the ballroom with Darien and everyone gasped. Gaara came over to my side and put his arm around me.

"This is my partner and my son. We would like to become an official family." Gaara said.

"This is unacceptable! You dared to sneak around behind the council's back with your apprentice!?!" A member yelled.

"She is no longer my apprentice. She has passed the Chunin exams and is now a Sand Village ninja. I am taking her as my bride." Gaara said.

"We shall support your actions. You are to be wedded tomorrow." The Supreme Council member said.

"Thank you." Gaara and I said.

We both exited the ballroom and headed back to the apartment. On the way, Temari and Kankuro stopped us.

"Where do you think you are going?" Kankuro asked.

        "Home." Gaara and I said.

"Oh no. You two have to be separated since it’s your wedding night." Kankuro said.

"Try and separate us and I promise you will end up in the hospital." Gaara said.

"Sorry bro, but I have to. Its tradition." Kankuro said.

         I kissed Gaara.

"It's alright. Go with him. I have Temari to keep me company." I said.

Gaara sighed and nodded his head.

       "Alright." He said.

Kankuro led Gaara back to Gaara's office and Temari led me to the apartment. In the apartment, I found Sakura and Hinata waiting there.

"Oh my! He's beautiful!" Hinata said.

"Would you like to hold him?" I asked her.

      "Of course!" She said.

I handed Darien to her and plopped down on the couch beside Sakura.

"Getting married and you already have a kid. This is very unexpected from you Chibi-chan." Sakura said.

"All because I did all of this before you?" I asked.

       "Yes."

Sakura and I laughed. Then there was a crash in the hallway. I got up and ran to the doorway. Sand was seeping through the door and wrapping itself around the lock.

"Gaara! Stop!" Kankuro shouted from the other side of the door.

      "No!" Gaara said.

I laughed and unlocked the door. The sand wrapped around my hand and pulled me into Gaara. Once I was in Gaara's arms, his sand started to surround us. It completely surrounded us in a circle before anyone could stop it. Kankuro managed to get a finger through before the sand closed off.

Gaara then began to kiss my neck.

"You have separation issues." I breathed.

"Only from you." Gaara whispered in between kisses.

My breathing picked up and then our clothes disappeared. We heard Kankuro yell a couple of times to stop and get out.

"It just got really hot in there! What are you two doing? Knock it off! Get your butts out here!" He screamed at one point.

But we didn't stop for another half hour. Then we finally separated and slipped on our clothes again. The sand slid away slowly to revel Gaara and I holding hands.

Sakura laughed while Temari smiled and Hinata's mouth was hanging open with shock. Kankuro looked as if he was scarred for life.

"Never again will I try to stop you two when you’re going into that sand circle." Kankuro said.

Everyone laughed at that except for Darien who was crying. I went over to him and picked him up.

"What's the matter baby?" I asked.

Darien cooed and then smiled. After a few minutes of kissing and convincing, Gaara left with Kankuro and I remained at the apartment. Everyone had a lot of fun. And then night soon passed into morning. Temari had ran out in the night and got me a dress. Kankuro had done the same for Gaara only Kankuro got Gaara a suit. Temari helped me get dressed and then we all gathered at the ballroom. When I heard the music, I walked down the aisle. After a few minutes, I was happily married to the love of my life.
